Most likely/common causes of hypopigmented patches in children
1. Pityriasis alba – common in children, often on the face/arms, mildly scaly, more noticeable after sun exposure.

2. Post-inflammatory hypopigmentation – after eczema, dermatitis, trauma, insect bites, or infection.

3. Vitiligo – well-demarcated depigmented patches, may enlarge, often no scale.

...Tinea versicolor – usually trunk/neck; fine scale; less common in younger children but possible.
